There is a lot to like about McCoy. He is explosive off the snap, a good blocker with functional speed and athleticism. A solid anchor, strong build and great power make him one of the top centers/guards in the draft. His lateral mobility and footballing smarts make him a must watch for all 32 NFL teams. He is aware and alert when in the line and can change up his game to suit his opponents. This kid will be a future talent.
He can often get into trouble when his opponent has a longer reach. He needs to work better on his hands to deflect the opponent's arms away and get back to blocking him. As he is only 21, the can learn this as he grows into an NFL starter.
Centre Erik McCoy, blocks his opponent before moving into the secondary, blocking again to allow for a TD.
Erik McCoy is an elite center who could play guard in the NFL depending on the team he lands at in the draft. Don’t expect him to leave the first round.
He is ready-made for the NFL despite only being a redshirt junior. He only missed two games for the Aggies across a 38-game run and will push hard to be a regular starter in the big leagues.
