Grier is a great reader of the play and has an incredible footballing IQ. He has a quick release with a smooth technique. There is a lot to like about the way he throws the ball. Some of his best throws are directly up the seam. He is passionate about what he does and is a leader of men. You can tell he loves what he does and strives to do better with every throw. His mobility makes him a dual threat and in the NFL of today, this makes him a good prospect.
He is a little on the small size, but he is still bigger than Kyler Murray. He also isn’t super strong, deep balls can be an effort for him. He can throw them but is inconsistent with accuracy. In college he ran a lot of man-coverage plays, there is not a lot of tape on him trying to manipulate zones. All these things aren’t deal breakers and he is a top 3 QB in the 2019 class for me.
Will Grier shows his great mobility to dance around the rushers and fire off a pinpoint pass.
Will Grier has overcome a lot of adversity in his young life. He started his college career with the Florida Gators before being banned for a year for PEDs. He said the banned substance was from an over-the-counter supplement, which he didn’t know was on the banned list. The transferred to West Virginia and became the man he is today.
He has a lot going for him and will impress in the NFL, he just needs to be given a chance.
He could go as high as late first round but will be a solid back-up QB for any team.
