Edge Ben Banogu NFL Draft Profile – TCU

Heart and determination are impeccable. Is that enough to be drafted?

Ben Banogu
Class Year: Senior
Height – 6’4″ Weight – 250 lbs
Twitter: @benbanogu
Combine Results:
40 Yard Dash – 4.62 seconds
Bench Press – 23 Reps (225 lbs)
Vertical Jump – 40.0 Inches
Broad Jump – 134 Inches
3 Cone Drill – 7.02 Seconds

You will never hear anyone say that Banogu lacks effort. He is all heart. This kid plays football as his life depends on it. Has good speed once he gets going, is highly competitive and never backs down.

Averaged 8.5 sacks per season in the last two years and is a demon when chasing the ball.

Showed some good times at the Combine and will be looked at by some NFL teams. His heart and drive are not the questions, his footballing talent is.

Can get overawed by the situation at times. Often allows players to get the best of him around the outside making him a non-factor in his own position. He gets worked over a lot by opponents, lacks flexibility and is rather timid for a guy of his athletic stature. Timing and execution need a lot of improvement. He reacts late to the snap and therefore is behind the play the whole way.

Banogu, starting on the left edge, makes easy work on his opponent and gets to the QB.

Pro Comparison:

A very soft version of Von Miller

Overall Review:

Banogu is an OK player, but he will definitely not have his name called until the third day of the draft if it is called at all. Skills can be taught as you grow as a player, but heart, drive, and determination cannot. Banogu has all these things and more. He just doesn’t have a lot of football talent.
