As a former QB, Knox has a good footballing brain. He is a great reader of the play and knows how to adjust to what is happening around him. He has speed, good hip movement and creates separation well with his speed of turn. Knox is an impressive prospect who has great hands and makes tough catches look easy. He is an OK blocker, but this is still a work in progress.
Route running is great and has good body control.
He can struggle as a pass protector at times, he seems to wait for his opponent to make the first move, then reacts to that. This will not work in the NFL he will be eaten alive. It also slows down the running back who is trying to find the gap that Knox hasn’t created yet.
As a former QB, his blocking is a work in progress. It’s not a huge problem, he will learn this as his career unfolds.
Dawson Knox #82 shows strong hands to bring the ball down.
There is a lot of upside to Knox. Sure, he struggles to block and can be a little late to make a decision, but he is a footballer. He has a great mindset for the game and knows how to ball. He will probably go on day two of the NFL Draft. Whoever takes him will get a work in progress who has plenty of strengths.
